We just couldn't wait to get our hands on the iPhone and be rid of the unsightly tactile keyboard that sucked up half the space on other mobile phones that could have gone to a bigger screen instead. And now that it's here and people have had ample time to get used to it, we're once again longing for that good ol' tactile keyboard that allowed us to feel our way along the keys as we shot off emails and text messages on the go.
As great as the iPhone is you know there have got to be loads of complaints about it when the rumors of an iPhone with a slide-out tactile keyboard are floating around even a year after the iPhone's debut. Rumors began circulating almost immediately that Apple was designing an iPhone with the same type of tactile keyboard that made Blackberry the hit that it was and still is. The rumors have got people's minds racing as to how they would incorporate such a keyboard. This is of course making those who love the touch screen crazy and business users salivate at the mere thought that they too could finally get some use out of the otherwise fun and very cool iPhone. But, so far we have yet to see anything even close to this come from Apple.
They know that the touch screen is not without its flaws and they're definitely aware of the fact that business users still prefer the Blackberry because of the tactile QWERTY keyboard. So how are they trying to remedy this? Well, the new iPhone 3GS gives you a QWERTY keyboard in the landscape position which means slightly bigger keys, but alas, it's still a multi touch screen. This means that people who are trying to email while multitasking and on the move still have to look as they type because they can't rely on feel for accuracy as was proven with the original iPhone. And though the rumors of an iPhone with a tactile keyboard continue to circulate; this new iPhone has no such keyboard to be found no matter how you turn it.
If you search online you'll find all kinds of links to the various rumors as well as some very interesting comments from both those who love the iPhone just as it is and those that just can't seem to master the touch keys and have given up trying. You'll also see loads of drawings and images of what other techies believe this iPhone will look like if it ever does come up. As interesting as some of these are, they are still pretty much make-believe as no such phone exists and Apple really has NOT even hinted at this as a possibility. I mean, a tactile keyboard on the iPhone would make it a little less sleek, a little less aesthetically pleasing and a lot like, well, a Blackberry or which last I checked was the competition.
If you're one of the many who loves the features, applications and even the trendiness of simply saying that you own an iPhone, but need a solution that will help you with faster and more accurate typing, then check out or website for another option. You really can have the best of both worlds in real life—not the world of make-believe and rumors!
